Referee Request/Confirm and Self-Assignment

A league has three options for determining how referees are assigned:

1. Assigning by the referee coordinator only.
2. Request/Confirm - a referee can request games to officiate, and the referee coordinator confirms the request
3. Self-Assign - a referee can self-assign to officiate a match.

Under options 2 & 3 the referee coordinator can of course still assign referees. (See League Referee Settings under Options).

Referee Request/Confirm

A Referee can request any game listed in All Referee Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Referee Strength in the Referee Coordinator chapter) by clicking onI'd Like It. When a game is requested, an email is sent to the referee coordinator and the field referee coordinator (if any is assigned) for the field on which the game will be played. When the referee coordinator views All Referee Assignments, any game that has requests will have a Requested button. Clicking on the button will display all referees who have requested that game. Each request is date and time stamped. The referee coordinator can choose one of the requesters or someone else. Email will be sent to the referee confirming the assignment.

Referee Self-Assignment

A Referee can self-assign to any game listed in All Referee Assignments that is within his or her comfort level (See Referee Strength in the Referee Coordinator chapter) by clicking the I'll Take It. The referee coordinator will get an email each time a game is self-assigned. Of course, the referee coordinator can always override a self-assignment.
